The People's Republic Of China



  • Brunei Darussalam (BD) and the People's Republic of China (China) established diplomatic relations on 30 September 1991.
  • BD and China formed a Strategic Cooperative Relationship on 5 April 2013.
  • BD and China enjoy active cooperation trade and investment, energy, agriculture and fisheries, defence, education, air services and tourism, health, and people to people exchanges.
  • Both countries cooperate through bilateral mechanisms such as the Bilateral Consultative Meeting (BCM) at the Senior Officials Level, and the Consultation Meeting on Trade, Investment and Economic Cooperation (COMTIEC).
  • There are 5 direct flights to China from Bandar Seri Begawan. RB operates scheduled flights to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Nanning. Lucky Air operates flights to Kunming.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the 21st ASEAN Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.H.E Dato Seri Setia Hj Erywan Pehin Yusof, then-Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, visited Beijing, Shanghai and Xi’an, and co-chaired the 15th Brunei-China Bilateral Consultative Meeting with H.E. Liu Zhenmin, then-Vice Foreign Minister of China in Beijing.
