Objective

As a member of the international community, Brunei Darussalam has always stood strong for multilateralism in the maintenance of international peace, security and prosperity. It will continue to pursue this goal in its relationships with other sub-regional and regional partners.

Functions

• Promotes and strengthens dialogue and cooperation in various fields in pursuit of Brunei Darussalam's national interests in sub-regional and regional forums.
• Works with other government agencies to coordinate effectively the country's participation in these multilateral forums.
• Serves as the National Secretariat for several sub-regional and regional forums that Brunei Darussalam is a member of, primarily, the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), Forum for East Asia and Latin America (FEALAC), and Asia-Middle East Dialogue (AMED).
• Liaises with the national secretariats for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the World Trade Organisation (WTO) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy in realising closer regional and global economic integration.
• Serve as the National Coordinator in the implementation of the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025 (MPAC 2025) at country-level.
