Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade attends 3rd ASEAN-GCC Ministerial Meeting
 

 

26 November 2013 - His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, this morning, attended the 3rd ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council Ministerial Meeting in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain.
 
The meeting was co-chaired by His Excellency Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Honourable Dato’ Sri Anifah Hj Aman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.
 
The ministers and heads of delegations discussed the current state of ASEAN-GCC relations, including, trade, economic and cultural cooperation, and the progress of implementation of the Action Plan for 2010-2013. The ministers and heads of delegations also exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual interest, such as energy security.
 
His Royal Highness stated that although the two regions had not formally met since 2010, activity had grown between them considerably in many areas, particularly between the private sectors. His Royal Highness encouraged the two secretariats from ASEAN and the GCC to continue working urgently on the Action Plan.

His Royal Highness and fellow ministers and heads of delegations, after the meeting, made a joint courtesy call on His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
 
His Royal Highness attended a luncheon hosted by His Highness Shaikh Salman Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
