The Government of His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Royal Government of Bhutan have decided to establish diplomatic relations with effect from 13 July 2026.
The signing of the Joint Communiqué took place at the Permanent Mission of Brunei Darussalam to the United Nations in New York, the United States of America.
The Government of His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was represented by Her Excellency Pengiran Hairani binti Pengiran Haji Tajuddin, Permanent Representative of Brunei Darussalam to the United Nations in New York, whilst the Royal Government of Bhutan was represented by His Excellency Tenzin Rondel Wangchuk, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the United Nations in New York.
