BRUNEI DARUSSALAM'S STATEMENT ON

THE RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN THE MIDDLE EAST

Brunei Darussalam strongly condemns the recent military strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran by the Occupying Power on 13 June 2025, which resulted in the tragic loss of lives and severe injuries.

These unprovoked actions come as international efforts intensified to achieve a nuclear deal between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, as well as to work towards a permanent solution to the conflict in the Middle East.

The latest developments should not serve to divert attention away from the Palestinian cause, which remains the core of the conflict in the Middle East.

The attacks are a clear violation to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran that proves the Occupying Power's continued impunity and its blatant flouting of international law, international humanitarian law and the United Nations (UN) Charter. The Islamic Republic of Iran has the inherent right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Brunei Darussalam urges the UN Security Council to fulfil its legal and moral responsibilities for maintaining international peace and security, including in ensuring full accountability of the Occupying Power.
