I am pleased with the progress of our cooperation in various areas including trade, defence, education and people-to-people, which has formed the foundation of our bilateral relations. Brunei Darussalam and the United States of America's long-standing friendship has continued to strengthen over the decades, marked by our agreement to elevate our 40 years of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership.
I look forward to working closely with you in enhancing our much-valued partnership both bilaterally and multilaterally, especially through our work in the ASEAN-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation.
