11 May 2024 - BRUNEI DARUSSALAM’S STATEMENT ON DEVELOPMENTS IN PALESTINE

BRUNEI DARUSSALAM’S STATEMENT
ON DEVELOPMENTS IN PALESTINE

Brunei Darussalam unequivocally condemns the Occupying Power’s military operation in Rafah and subsequent takeover of the Rafah Crossing, a vital passage for the delivery of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

This unacceptable move by the Occupying Power represents a dangerous escalation that has killed more innocent civilians, including women and children, and ignores the international calls to protect the safety and lives of millions of Palestinians seeking refuge in the area.

The situation in Palestine is already a humanitarian crisis of profound proportions perpetuated by the Occupying Power’s continued disregard of international law with impunity.

The international community has a moral duty to urgently address the ongoing atrocities committed by the Occupying Power against the Palestinians and seek accountability on the basis of international law. Brunei Darussalam reiterates its call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and urges all parties to intensify their efforts towards finding a lasting solution to the conflict.

Brunei Darussalam remains steadfast in its conviction to the Palestinian people and reaffirms its full support for the creation of a fully independent and sovereign State of Palestine on the basis of the two-State solution, based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
