I am happy to extend my warmest congratulations to you, your government and the people of the United States of America as you celebrate the 247th anniversary of your Independence Day.
Our two countries and peoples have long enjoyed a close and warm friendship that has benefitted us in many areas of cooperation, which I believe will be further strengthened in the years ahead.
I also value our regional partnership, especially through the ASEAN-U.S. dialogue and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. I look forward to the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting this November in San Francisco, and I wish you success in all your preparations.
