His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, this afternoon received in audience His Excellency Bendito dos Santos Freitas, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste who is in Brunei Darussalam for a three-day Official Visit.

During the Audience Ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and His Excellency reaffirmed the warm and friendly ties shared between Brunei Darussalam and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, in which both countries have good cooperation in education as well as people-to-people exchanges. On regional matters, His Majesty expressed Brunei Darussalam’s continuous support for Timor-Leste’s accession to ASEAN and welcomed the positive progress towards this end.

Accompanying His Excellency were His Excellency Abel Guterres, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to Brunei Darussalam; and Marcos dos Reis da Costa, Director-General of Bilateral Affairs for Asia and Oceania.

Also present during the Audience Ceremony was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Audience Ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.
