The launch of the e-Government 2009 Exhibition at The Mall in Gadong yesterday marked another milestone achievement for the government, where 16 government and non-government booths are currently displaying the latest technologies and ICT-related services.
The expo is held in conjunction with the recent launch of the Brunei e-Government Strategic Plan.
Government officials and members of the public turned up at The Mall to witness the launching of the expo by Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office Dato Seri Paduka Hj Eussoff Agaki Hj Ismail.
The exhibition aims to enhance public awareness and involve relevant stakeholders in the National e-Government Plan.
Scheduled to be held until June 14, the inaugural exhibition is one of the initiatives by the Prime Minister's Office to showcase e- Government as the main mover in providing services to its customers. It will be faster, easier, customer-focused, cost effective and - as a whole - far better than before

  

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izaddien Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday afternoon consented to present Letters of Credence to a newly appointed Ambassador and a Permanent Representative as well as received Letters of Credence from two foreign envoys to the country. The ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.


His Majesty firstly consented to present Letters of Credence to Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Ghafar bin Haji Ismail, Permanent Representative-designate of Brunei Darussalam to the United Nations in New York, United States of America.

His Majesty then consented to present Letters of Credence to Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Panglima Retired Colonel Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil bin Haji Ahmad, Ambassador-designate of Brunei Darussalam to the Federal Republic of Germany.

His Majesty then consented to receive Letters of Credence from the two newly-appointed envoys to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Jean-Yves Berthault, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France.

It was then followed by His Excellency Saul Arana Castellon, a non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Nicaragua.

Following the ceremony, His Majesty then consented to receive in audience the newly-appointed Ambassador-designate and Permanent Representative-designate of Brunei Darussalam. His Excellency Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Ghafar bin Haji Ismail, Permanent Representative-designate of Brunei Darussalam to the United Nations in New York, United States of America.

Prior to his appointment, His Excellency held the position of High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Singapore. His Excellency Pehin Datu Panglima Colonel Retired Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil bin Haji Ahmad, Ambassador-designate of Brunei Darussalam to the Federal Republic of Germany, previously served as the High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
