KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA
Diplomatic relations were established on 1 July 1987. In November 1987, Brunei Darussalam set up its Embassy in Riyadh. Brunei Darussalam also opened a Consulate General in Jeddah in October 1989. The cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Saudi Arabia is mostly focused on religious and Hajj affairs.
The Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Saudi Arabia is His Excellency Dato Seri Setia Hj. Yussof bin Hj. Ismail. The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Brunei Darussalam is His Excellency Hisham bin Abdul Wahab bin Abdullah Zaraa.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam made a State Visit to Saudi Arabia in January 1999. His Majesty the Sultan was also in Riyadh for the Arab Islamic American Summit on 21 May 2017. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud made a State Visit to Brunei Darussalam on 4 March 2017.
Brunei Darussalam and Saudi Arabia established the Joint Committee Meeting (JCM) to following-up the "General Agreement on Economic, Trade, Investment, Technical, Education, Cultural, Youth and Sport Cooperation" that was signed on 22 May 2006. The 1st JCM took place in Riyadh on 10 – 11 February 2015.
