Brunei Darussalam signs DTA with Cambodia

On 27 July 2017, Brunei Darussalam signed the Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with Cambodia. Signing on behalf of the Government of Brunei Darussalam was His Excellency Pengiran Kasmirhan Pengiran Tahir, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Cambodia, while Cambodia was represented by His Excellency Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, Senior Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance.


On the occasion, HE Pengiran Kasmirhan Pengiran Tahir expressed his honour to be present as both countries enter yet another milestone in their bilateral relationships. HE highlighted that the Agreement is a significant step forward in enhancing the economic and trade cooperation especially through the private sectors of both countries which will benefit from the elimination of double taxation on the same source of income and reduction of tax on certain types of income. HE further noted that signing of the Agreement will facilitate the exchange of tax related information in ensuring greater transparency in line with newly developed global standards.

 

HE Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth expressed great pleasure in representing the Royal Government of Cambodia at the signing ceremony, highlighting that the DTA with Brunei Darussalam is the third agreement Cambodia has signed after Singapore and China. HE further added that Cambodia has been negotiating DTAs with other countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Korea.
