The Republic of Turkey




Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and Turkey were established on 27 June 1984. Brunei Darussalam opened its Embassy in Ankara in 2014, while Turkey opened its Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan in 2013.

The Turkish Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam is His Excellency Mehmet Suat Akgun.

A range of high-level visits have taken place between the two countries over the years. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam made a working visit to Turkey in 2012 and in 2016. His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah (2002) and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large (2004), have also made visits to Turkey.

Brunei Darussalam received several high-level visits from Turkey, including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, then Prime Minister, in November 2012, and His Excellency Ahmet Davutoglu, then Prime Minister, in 2013.

Bilateral cooperation has progressed especially in areas such as defence, trade and investment, education and tourism.
