In cooperation with High Commissions and Embassies of ASEAN and Dialogue Partner countries in Brunei Darussalam, the Education Talks during the ASEAN@50 Exhibition, will provide the opportunity to gain insights into the prospects of furthering studies in countries such as Singapore, Australia, Canada, US and Japan. The Talks will also create awareness on the conventional needs that cater to the building of human capacities and resources for the future through education. 


The line-up of distinguished presenters during the Talk will include:

  • Dr. Paul Ong, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the National University of Singapore (NUS) who will talk about postgraduate courses in Offshore Technology and Petroleum Engineering at NUS.

  •  John Mathew, Senior Manager at the International Division of Aptech Ltd, India, with years of experience in the training industry. He will present a topic entitled ‘Skill development leading to inclusive economic growth’.

  •  Dr. Igor Istomin, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Applied International Political Analysis, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), will be presenting the case of MGIMO University as the flagship university and national center of excellence for International Relations studies in Russia and the opportunities for ASEAN students. 

  • Dr. Abbes Sebihi, a Senior Education and Training Specialist and expert in the field of technical and vocational education and training (TVET), seconded to South East Asia Ministers of Education Organisation Vocational and Technical Education (SEAMEO VOCTECH).  His topic will explore the benefit and lessons for ASEAN from EU’s dual education system in the TVET sector provided by the Bologna Process in forging close links between the education system and industry. 

The speakers from Singapore, Russia and India will present their talks in the morning while the afternoon session includes speakers from the EU as well as representatives of the High Commissions and Embassies of Australia, US, Japan and Canada in Brunei Darussalam, who will  share their thoughts about study opportunities in their respective countries.
