Background

The Shanghai World Exposition 2010 will be held in Shanghai, China and is a scheduled World Expo in the tradition of international fairs and expositions. The Expo will take place from May 1–October 31, 2010.

To date, 192 countries and 50 international organizations have confirmed participation



Theme
The theme of the exposition will be "Better City – Better Life" and signifies Shanghai's new status in the 21st century as a major economic and cultural center.

Logo

 

The expo Logo features the Chinese character 世 'world' modified to represent three people together with the 2010 date.

Mascot

 

World Expo Shanghai has chosen an imaginary character as its mascot. The name of the mascot of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China is Hai Bao, which means the treasure of the sea. The name of Hai Bao is easy to remember, echoes with the color of its body and is a typical lucky name in Chinese tradition.​
