Brunei Darussalam Citizens to Timor-Leste 

Bruneian citizens holding Diplomatic or Official Passports are exempted from requiring to obtain visa to enter the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste with effect from 13 December 2024. 

Bruneian citizens holding Ordinary Passports, however, must and can obtain Visa-on-Arrival at any Timor-Leste's land and port point of entry. Visa fee is USD 30.00 and entitles its holder for up to 30 days of stay in Timor-Leste and can be extended once for the same period. Applications to extend visa shall be made at the Office of Immigration Service of Timor-Leste in Dili and the requirements to extend a Timorese visa are as follows:

  • Submit application at least 15 days before the authorised stay expires;
  • Proof of accommodation arrangement;
  • Fee for extension of USD 40.00;
  • Copy of passport; and
  • Passport photographs size 3x4. 

Prior to travelling, all Bruneian citizens are highly advised to register via e-Register at https://www.mfa.gov.bn/pages/eRegister_desc.aspx. Non-Bruneian Nationals to Brunei Darussalam
 

Foreign Nationals 

Before making your journey and prior to entering Brunei Darussalam, foreign nationals must obtain appropriate visa which can be applied through any nearest Brunei Darussalam Diplomatic Missions abroad, unless otherwise (visa exemptions). Visa applications may take up to three (3) months of processing before the application's final result is given. Visas granted are valid for use within three (3) months. Timorese Nationals 

Timorese nationals holding Diplomatic or Official / Service Passports are exempted from requiring to obtain visa with effect from 13 December 2024.

Timorese nationals holding Ordinary Passports must apply for appropriate visa before making their journey and prior to entering Brunei Darussalam. Visa can be applied through the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Dili.

 

Documents Required for Visa Application

1.      Completed visa application form per applicant; 

2.      Applicant's passport (passport must be valid for at least six (6) months before date of expiry and should have at least six (6) unmarked pages remaining); 

3.      A copy of applicant's passport ; 

4.      A copy of flight ticket booking with return flight details or travel journey booking; 

5.      A copy of hotel booking; 

6.      Two (2) recent passport photographs with blue or white background ; 

7.      A copy of invitation letter from appropriate Government body, or from registered business entity or organisation (for Business or Professional Visit Visa) (if applicable); 

8.      Original verification letter from employer (for Employment Visa) or university (for Student Visa) (if applicable); 

9.      A copy of marriage certificate (if applicable); 

10.   A copy of spouse's identification card and/or passport (if applicable); 

11.   A copy of birth certificate (for children where applicable); 

12.   A copy of guarantor or sponsor's identification card, valid and latest passport and valid employment pass in Brunei (if applicable); 

13.   A copy of relevant certificates of family members in Brunei if the visit is for the purpose of visiting family members (if applicable); 

  1. Spouses – Marriage certificate;
     
  2. Children – Birth certificates;
     
  3. Siblings – Birth certificates;
     

14.   Copy of three (3) months bank statement; 

15.   Non-refundable visa fee of USD 20.00 per application for single entry.​
