BRUNEI DARUSSALAM'S STATEMENT ON

THE RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN JERUSALEM

Brunei Darussalam condemns the recent escalation of violence carried out by the Occupying Power towards Palestinians at the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadhan.

We reiterate our strong condemnation on the repeated and continued violations of the human rights and dignity of the Palestinian people, as well as the excessive use of force against the Palestinians.

We join the international community in calling on the Occupying Power to cease attacks against civilians, as well as to respect the sanctity of this holy site.

Brunei Darussalam will continue its full support for international efforts aimed at ending the occupation and achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East, in line with international law and all relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions. We reiterate our solidarity with the Palestinian people and reaffirm our commitment to the Two-State solution, as the only viable solution towards achieving an independent and sovereign state of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
