MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND TRADE DELIVERS UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY STATEMENT

28 September 2007 - His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, this evening, addressed 62nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York. In his statement, His Royal Highness welcomed the idea to place the United Nations at the heart of the global multilateral system through a consensus of member states, the private sector, non-government organisations and civil society.
 

His Royal Highness earlier attended the Foreign Ministers’ Annual Coordination Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and reiterated the importance of multilateralism through mutual understanding, respect, tolerance and goodwill in achieving a united movement.

His Royal Highness followed this meeting by attending the 6th Commonwealth Foreign Ministers’ Meeting at the UN where he expressed hope for a successful conclusion to the Doha Development Agenda, and stressed the need for member countries to work together in addressing climate change.
