POST MINISTERIAL CONFERENCES (PMC)

 

Yang Berhormat Pehin Dato Lim Jock Seng, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade joins other Foreign Ministers of ASEAN and Dialogue Partners at the ASEAN PMC + 10 Working Lunch

 

27 July 2006 In the morning, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Darussalam, attended the Post Ministerial Conference meeting with Australia. During the meeting, Foreign Ministers of ASEAN and Australia reviewed the ASEAN-Australia dialogue relations and discussed ways to enhance various areas of cooperation which exist between both sides.

Yang Berhormat Pehin also held a meeting with His Excellency Ban Ki-moon, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea. During the meeting they discussed bilateral matters of mutual interest.

Yang Berhormat Pehin later joined other Foreign Ministers of ASEAN and Dialogue Partners at the ASEAN PMC + 10 Working Lunch.

In the afternoon, Yang Berhormat Pehin co-chaired the Post Ministerial Conference meeting with Canada. During the meeting, Foreign Ministers of ASEAN and Canada reviewed the ASEAN-Canada dialogue relations and discussed ways to enhance various areas of cooperation which exist between both sides. This is also the last ASEAN-Canada Foreign Ministers meeting under Brunei Darussalam’s co-ordinatorship.

After the meeting, the Signing Ceremony of the Framework Document for the Plan of Action to implement the ASEAN-US Enhanced Partnership was held. Signing on behalf of Brunei Darussalam was Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Darussalam.

Later, Yang Berhormat Pehin and Foreign Ministers of ASEAN and Dialogue Partners held the PMC Joint Press Conference.

In the evening, Yang Berhormat Pehin attended the Gala Dinner hosted by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Syed Hamid Albar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, in honour of Foreign Ministers of ASEAN and Dialogue Partners at one of the leading hotels in Kuala Lumpur.
