ASEAN PLUS THREE FOREIGN MINISTERS MEETING HELD TODAYY

26 July 2006 The ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers Meeting was held this afternoon at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Malaysia. The Meeting brought together Foreign Ministers of ASEAN Member Countries, the People’s Republic of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea. Present at the Meeting was Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Darussalam.

During the Meeting, Ministers discussed several matters of common concerns and regional developments. The Meeting also reviewed progress of ASEAN Plus Three cooperation.

Prior to the Meeting, Yang Berhormat Pehin joined other ASEAN Foreign Ministers and Foreign Ministers of Australia, People’s Republic of China, India, Japan, Republic of Korea and New Zealand at the East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Minister Luncheon.

Yang Berhormat Pehin also held a meeting with His Excellency Dr. Thongioun Sisoulith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lao PDR. During the meeting they discussed bilateral matters of mutual interest.

Late in the afternoon, Yang Berhormat Pehin together with other Foreign Ministers attended the official launching of the Russian Food Festival to commemorate the 10th year anniversary of ASEAN-Russia Dialogue relations.

Later in the evening, Yang Berhormat Pehin attended a welcoming dinner hosted by Yang Berhormat Datuk Ruslin Hassan, Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, in honour of Foreign Ministers of ASEAN and Dialogue Partners at one of the leading hotels in Kuala Lumpur.
