DIGITISED PHOTOS ON BRUNEI DARUSSALAM’S NATIONAL PASSPORT

The Department of Immigration and National Registration is introducing new Brunei Darussalam’s National Passports with digitised photos printed directly on the data page of the passport. The system began early October this year.

The Department informed the public that the change will not affect the fee and the existing application conditions. Applicants are still required to bring along their photo which will be scanned and printed directly onto the passport. Passports issued before this change are still valid.

Holders of the Brunei Darussalam National Passports, who is planning to visit the United States of America, are however advised to change their existing passport to the one with digital photo to avoid from having to obtain a visa before entering the country. The aim of the change was to upgrade security characteristics found in the Brunei Darussalam’s National Passport which was issued by the Immigration and National Registration Department.
