His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam had consented to the establishment of a relief fund called Tabung Bantuan Mangsa Taufan Katrina or the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. This national humanitarian relief fund is established to collect funds from donors in the country in aid of Katrina Hurricane victims in New Orleans, United States of America.

Collections of funds by means of organising welfare and charity activities are also welcomed. Business sectors, associations and individuals can make their contributions either through funds set up at banks, supermarkets, shops, or other public buildings in the country. They can also hand their cash donations directly to the Secretariat of the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund  at the Social Development Department at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in Jalan Kebangsaan.
